Thousands of people have had flights cancelled, with weather warnings for rain and thunderstorms in force across the UK. The Met Office has issued an amber thunderstorm warning, as parts of the UK are set to be battered by heavy rain, lightning, hail and strong winds.
The Met Office has warned conditions could cause disruption, including power cuts, flooding, and train and bus cancellations. The warning, in place in central England until 19:00, means flooding and travel disruption is likely.
Dozens of flights were axed over Sunday and Monday at Gatwick and Heathrow airports due to severe weather. Three lower-level yellow warnings cover other parts of England, Scotland and the west of Northern Ireland.
