Version 0 of 1.

A light aircraft pilot who was killed in a crash in Norfolk was flying too low, an Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) report has said.

Ian Davies, 49, of Topcroft, Norfolk, a director at media group Archant, died when his plane hit a tractor in Seething airfield on 29 October 2008.

Passenger Steve Shutt, 51, from Hingham, died later in hospital.

The report said the pilot made a final approach which meant he was unaware of the aircraft's proximity to the runway.

The Christen Eagle aircraft was coming in to land and the AAIB said both men were "unable to ensure that the flight path ahead was clear of obstacles".

The report added that the tractor driver did not see or hear the aircraft before the collision and at first assumed that "something had failed or exploded on his vehicle".
