An earlier version said that the Titan sub “uses Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite technology to communicate”, supporting this by quoting an OceanGate tweet which said that Starlink was providing communication “throughout this year’s 2023 Titanic expedition.” However, satellite technology would only have been used above the surface of the water, not for communication with the sub.
