Police received multiple reports of a male armed with a rifle still shooting in the area as they responded to the scene, the Inquirer reported. Officers also reported hearing the gunfire. Just before 8.40pm, police officers said they had apprehended a male suspect wearing a ballistic vest and recovered a rifle and handgun in a nearby alleyway, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
According to the Inquirer, at least two juveniles were among those shot, but their conditions were not immediately known. Both the Inquirer and the Philadelphia television station WPVI, an ABC News affiliate, reported two of the people shot were juveniles, but it was not clear whether they were among the dead.
