Road closed after fatal accident Man dies and two injured in crash

One person has died in a fatal crash on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway. A man has been killed and two others seriously injured after their 4x4 vehicle came off a road in the south of Scotland and crashed into a ditch.
A spokesman for Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said the accident happened at the Rhonehouse Junction near Castle Douglas at about 0450 BST. The accident happened on the A75 Gretna - Stranraer road at the Rhonehouse Junction near Castle Douglas at about 0450 BST.
The road has been closed and diversions have been put in place. The three men are thought to be fishermen on their way out for the day.
It is not yet known when the road will re-open and no further details are available. The road was closed for a number of hours while a police accident investigation team worked at the scene.
'A mystery'
The 4x4 is believed to have come out of a minor road onto the trunk road, hit a sign and plunged into a ditch.
One man died almost instantly and the other two were take to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
It is believed the vehicle had come from the Rhonehouse village area, about half a mile from the crash scene.
A police spokesman said: "Our investigations are going on into the crash. One person died and two others were injured.
"We will be releasing the name of the victim after the next of kin have been informed."
A villager said: "We heard that the men were fishermen but how the accident happened is a mystery. It was at the junction on to the A75 and it is a big wide junction which is signed."
