Two men die in separate crashes

A motorcyclist and an elderly pedestrian have died in separate road crashes in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The 84-year-old man died in hospital after being injured by a car while crossing Windsor Road, Penarth at 08.45 BST on Saturday.

Later at 17.20 BST, a man, 44, died when his motorcycle was involved in a crash with a car at traffic lights on the B4265 in Llantwit Major.

South Wales Police have appealed for witnesses to both incidents.

In the first crash, police said the elderly man was crossing the road from the Glebe Street junction when he was hit by a black Vauxhall Corsa.

He was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Police have appealed for witnesses to contact the roads policing unit on 029 20 571600.

Police said the Corsa was travelling eastwards towards the Stanwell Road roundabout when the crash happened.

The pedestrian had been crossing towards the Spar shop at Windsor Road.

In the second crash, the blue Triumph motorbike had been travelling towards Wick when it was in collision with a black Fiesta, turning right into Llanmaes Road.
