A passenger ferry has collided with a tanker on the River Mersey. A passenger ferry has collided with a cargo ship on the River Mersey.
The accident, involving a Seacat vessel and the Alaska Rainbow, happened just before noon on Saturday. None of the 294 passengers were injured in the accident, involving the Sea Express One vessel and the Alaska Rainbow, just before noon on Saturday.
The Seacat has now returned to the Pier Head landing stage at Liverpool to allow its passengers to disembark from the vessel. The Sea Express, which travels between Liverpool and the Isle of Man for the island's Steam Packet Company, returned to the Pier Head.
No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident. An investigation is now under way to find out how the collision occurred. Liverpool Coastguard was dispatched to the accident, which happened near the entrance to the Alfred Dock.
Two tugs, two lifeboats and a coastguard team were used to rescue crew and passengers.
A spokesman for Liverpool Coastguard said: "There were no injuries to any person on the vessels.
"All 294 passengers and crew disembarked safely.
"It is believed there is some damage to the Sea Express One, which our officers are currently investigating."
