Version 0 of 1.

A County Antrim man extradited from the United States has been remanded in custody accused of child abuse image offences.

David Boatright faces 28 counts of making indecent photographs of children on dates between 1999 and 2002.

The accused, from Upperton Drive, Old Mossley, Newtownabbey, was in court on Friday after being returned from Miami.

It is understood he travelled to the US some time after first being charged with the offences in 2003.

A detective inspector told Belfast Magistrates Court he could connect Mr Boatright with all charges.

Defence solicitor Matt Higgins said it was not a complex case, and that his client had made certain admissions.

"He has been in custody in the United States for five months," Mr Higgins revealed.

The lawyer added: "Police have travelled to America to return Mr Boatright. There has been an extradition hearing to have him returned."

Mr Boatright was remanded in custody to allow prosecuting authorities to check files on the case.

He will appear again via video-link next month.
