(about 10 hours later) | |
A father-of-two has died in hospital after being shot in the chest when he opened his front door in Greater Manchester.
Amran Khan, 29, was shot at three times at the house in Nugget Street, St Mary's, Glodwick, Oldham, at 1030 BST on Friday.
He was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital, but he died later. He leaves a wife and daughters aged one and four.
Ch Supt Caroline Ball said she did not want to speculate on a motive.
She added: "Tragically, a young man has lost his life as a result of this shooting.
If the answers are in the community, then that positive dialogue will help us find Amran's killers Ch Supt Caroline Ball
"We understand the community will be very shocked and deeply upset by what has happened, so I would ask that they work with us to help find whomever is responsible for Amran's murder.
"If the answers are in the community, then that positive dialogue will help us find Amran's killers.
"There will be a significant police presence in the area over the coming days both to reassure residents who may be worried and to do everything we can to get to the bottom of what has happened.
"Again, I would urge anyone who does have information to speak to us, in complete confidence if needed, so we can continue to move our investigation forward." |
