Version 0 of 1.

There is extensive coverage of the row over claims by the shadow chancellor that Labour is planning a big rise in income tax if it wins the next election.

The Observer says George Osborne's claim <a class="inlineText" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/sep/20/tories-tax-george-osborne-byrne">has backfired because the figures were published</a> in last spring's budget.

It says furious ministers came close to accusing Mr Osborne of lying.

Mr Osborne himself comes close to breaking the convention that MPs do not accuse each other of being untruthful <a class="inlineText" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1214746/GEORGE-OSBORNE-There-convention-dont-accuse-MP-lying-But-Gordon-Browns-case-.html">in criticism of the prime minister</a> in an article for the Mail on Sunday.

Poor nations

<a class="inlineText" href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article6841385.ece">Campaigners have won their fight to legalise assisted suicide,</a> according to the Sunday Times.

Under new guidance, the paper says, those who help a friend or relative to end their lives on compassionate grounds will not be prosecuted.

According to the Independent on Sunday, <a class="inlineText" href="http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/britain-stalls-on-new-deal-to-rescue-africa-1790439.html">Chancellor Alistair Darling is blocking plans for a tax on international currency transactions.</a>

The deal, it reports, would be used to help the world's poorest nations.

Code of conduct

The Sunday Express <a class="inlineText" href="http://www.express.co.uk/sunday">has an exclusive report from investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in 2007.</a>

He believes that two kidnappers were involved and they must have staged a number of dry runs to get their timing just right.

The Sunday Mirror reports the <a class="inlineText" href="http://www.mirror.co.uk/sunday-mirror/">Taliban has issued a code of conduct.</a>

It prohibits beheadings of prisoners of war - they must be shot instead, and the executions must not be filmed.

Price tags

A boy of three has apparently become the UK's youngest crime suspect.

The Sunday Times says Strathclyde Police went to his home this summer after <a class="inlineText" href="http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article6841339.ece">receiving a complaint of damage to property.</a>

Finally, the Sunday Telegraph tells how an assistant at an antiques shop in Norwich managed to sell some rare Victorian medals while her boss was on lunch.

The boss was not entirely happy on his return though - <a class="inlineText" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/6210139/Misread-price-tag-means-antique-medals-were-a-bargain.html">the assistant sold the medals for £18.50, instead of £1,850.</a>
