Two men have been arrested over the fatal shooting of a father-of-two who was hit in the chest on his doorstep in Greater Manchester.

Amran Khan, 29, was shot at three times at the house in Nugget Street, Oldham, shortly after he had put his children to bed at 2230 BST on Friday.

He was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital, but he died later. He leaves a wife and daughters aged one and four.

The two men are in custody and are being questioned by detectives.

Mr Khan opened his door after hearing a disturbance outside.

Ch Supt Caroline Ball said she did not want to speculate on a motive, but appealed for people with information to come forward.

She added: "Tragically, a young man has lost his life as a result of this shooting.

"We understand the community will be very shocked and deeply upset by what has happened, so I would ask that they work with us to help find whomever is responsible for Amran's murder."
