Terror charge for Manchester man Man in court on terrorism charge

A 24-year-old man has been charged with terrorism offences after being arrested in Manchester last month. A 24-year-old man has appeared in court accused of intending to help another person to commit terrorist acts.
Abdul Rahman, from Heywood Street in Cheetham Hill, has been charged with intent to assist another to commit acts of terrorism. Abdul Rahman, of Cheetham Hill, Manchester, who was arrested last month in the city, appeared at London's City of Westminster Magistrates' Court.
He was detained by Greater Manchester Police on the 23 January with a second man, who has been freed without charge. Mr Rahman will next appear on 23 February at the Old Bailey.
He is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Tuesday. Between 13 April 2006 and 23 January, Mr Rahman was allegedly involved in helping someone who fled to Pakistan and whose whereabouts are unknown.
Mr Rahman, who was remanded in custody, spoke only to confirm his details.
No application for bail was made.
