The men died instantly and the woman was badly injured, the Italian agency said. According to Italian government officials, the crash took place about 1900 local time as the motorcycles were exiting the tunnel.

Initial witness statements said that the men who died had been riding at the head of a convoy of motorbikes. The two men died instantly and Ms Pointer was badly injured but later died, the reports said.
Relatives of the deceased were informed and were being offered consular assistance, the Foreign Office added. The woman in hospital, in the regional capital Trento, is the wife of the 66-year-old victim.
The lorry driver was also taken to hospital but was not thought to be seriously injured.
