Further postal strikes will be held next week, the Communication Workers Union has announced.

More than 15,000 workers are to walk out over a long-running dispute over jobs, pay and conditions.

Postal workers will go on strike for 24 hours in areas including London, Cambridge, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Nottingham, Glasgow and Coventry.

The CWU is balloting all its postal members for a national strike, with the result due early next month.

Monday marks the 14th week of industrial action by postal workers since the start of the dispute, and some postal workers will be on strike for the first time.

Up to 12,000 workers in London are expected to walk out on Tuesday, joined by staff in Bognor Regis, Cambridge, Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Skegness, Kent, Ayr and Kilmarnock in Scotland.

Van drivers in Birmingham, Bridgend, Bristol, Nottingham, Chelmsford, Glasgow, Leeds and Swindon will also take part.

The union has accused Royal Mail of cutting jobs without agreement, which the company denies.

Talks between the two sides are be held next week.
