Man abducted and robbed by gunmen

A man has been abducted and robbed at gunpoint in Newry.

The man, who works for a credit company, was making calls when he was confronted by two masked men - one carrying a gun - in College Gardens.

They took cash from him and bundled him into the backseat of his car, a grey Saab, before driving away.

The car was abandoned in O'Reilly Park in Killeen and the man was forced into the boot before the robbers fled. He was able to get out and get help.

The man did not sustain any injuries but was left shaken by his ordeal.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the College Gardens/Violet Hill area or O'Reilly Park and has information about the incident to contact them.
