Police in Las Vegas are responding to an active shooter alert at the University of Nevada.

The university posted on X at around 11:53 local time (19:53 GMT) on Wednesday that they were responding to reports of shots fired on campus.

Las Vegas police said there "appears to be multiple victims at this time" near the university's Beam Hall, but did not provide further details.

They urged people to avoid the area at this time.
