A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "An incident was reported to police on 12 October and inquiries were made by Thames Valley Police who spoke to both the victim and her parents. | |
"They do not wish to support police proceedings at this stage and have requested that the matter be dealt with by the college." | |
'Full support' | |
But in a statement issued on Friday, Wellington College said the family had supported the decision to pass the matter on to the police. | |
It said: "This is a private matter and it would be inappropriate to comment beyond saying that the school took the decision to report the incident to the police. | |
"The parents of the girl are in full support of the school and its handling of this episode." | |
