Man held over family gun attack
(1 day later) | |
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a gun attack on a house on the outskirts of west Belfast.
Four children and two adults escaped injury when two masked men fired at the property at White Rise, Lagmore.
Parish priest John Forsythe said the attack may be linked to a dispute within the Travelling community.
Kathleen Dundon, who lives in the house, said she was shocked by the attack and did not know why she had been targeted.
She said: "I couldn't believe it that someone would come and fire shots with three young kids in the house.
"Why me? What did I ever do wrong that people would come and do that to me?"
Fr Forsythe said: "She is a very respectable woman, she is not used to this sort of behaviour."
Influence | |
Kathleen Dundon said she did not know why she was targeted
Mrs Dundon has lived in the house for about nine years.
The front panel of the double glazed front door was broken in the attack, but the rounds did not penetrate the house.
It is believed four metal pellets were recovered by the police.
Sinn Fein MLA for the area, Jennifer McCann, said whatever dispute led to the shooting needs to be resolved peacefully.
"I am stating very clearly now, there are mechanisms which can be brought into play to see such disputes resolved.
"I am calling on members of the Travelling community involved or those who may have influence to come forward and we, as a community, can help resolve these disputes." |
