A 10-year-old boy found hanged in woods on Teesside was a "sunny, bright, enthusiastic little boy", his family have said.

Connor Tann died in what police said was a tragic accident, after getting tangled in ropes while playing in Hutton Woods, Guisborough.

The youngster, from nearby Boosbeck, was pronounced dead in hospital after being discovered on Saturday evening.

In a statement, his family said he would "always be remembered with love".

A post-mortem examination found he died from hanging.

'Cheeky grin'

The statement, released through Cleveland Police, said: "Connor filled our hearts with joy and laughter. He was a sunny, bright, enthusiastic little boy with his whole life ahead of him.

"Although our sweet Connor is gone, we will always remember him with love.

"You mean everything to us and without you, our lives will be without your smiling happy face. Your cheeky grin could light up an entire room.

"You made us laugh Connor, and as much as we all miss you, that's how we will try and always think of you."

Flowers have been left in the woods since the incident.
