Man dies in three-vehicle crash Police identify A75 crash victim

A 66-year-old driver was killed in a three-vehicle crash on the A75 Castle Douglas by-pass in Dumfries and Galloway. Police have confirmed the identity of a 67-year-old man killed in a crash on the A75 at the weekend.
Police said an articulated lorry and two cars were involved in the collision at about 1140 GMT on Saturday. Robert Caig, from Gatehouse of Fleet, died in the collision involving a lorry and two cars near Castle Douglas at about 1140 GMT on Saturday.
The dead man was driving one of the cars. Two people in the second car and the lorry driver were injured. The road in the area was closed for more than 12 hours while police carried out crash investigations.
Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary said the road would be closed for some time for investigations. None of the people travelling in the other vehicles involved was seriously hurt.
Officers appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash, between Allanton and the A713 junction, to contact them.
