A man has been charged with burglary after "high-valued diamond jewellery" was stolen from a shop in Guernsey. A man charged with stealing diamond jewellery worth £36,000 has appeared in court.
Police said the man had been arrested in Guernsey Airport while trying to board a flight. Sergei Khatchaturov, of Ontario, Canada, was arrested on Saturday at Guernsey Airport as he attempted to board a London-bound flight, police said.
Guernsey Police said it had "fast-tracked" the investigation and found the stolen items in baggage on an aircraft. Guernsey Magistrates' Court heard police were notified after two sets of earrings were taken from Derek Birch and Son on The Pollet, St Peter Port, at about 11:20 BST on Saturday.

Mr Khatchaturov was remanded in custody by Judge Gary Perry until 25 November for a pre-trial review, with a date for committal set for 4 December.
