A police marksman has been removed from Scotland Yard's specialist CO19 firearms unit after posting revealing pictures of himself online. Pc Malcolm Thomas, 40, used the name "funboybobby" to display a series of photographs on an adult dating site. He described himself as "dominant" and some of the pictures showed him in uniform, carrying his 9mm Glock pistol. The Metropolitan Police said he was immediately removed from the unit and an investigation was being carried out. He said: "I am an armed policeman in London and very dominant." He emailed the images to a woman he met through one of several websites on which his details appear. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said anti-corruption detectives were investigating the website pictures and messages. He said: "Firearms officers routinely have to face some of the most difficult and dangerous situations in policing. "They volunteer for this role to protect the public and their colleagues. We expect them to display the highest standards of skill, professionalism and judgment on a daily basis. "An investigation into the detail of this case is ongoing, and is being carried out by the Directorate of Professional Standards." |
