Disruption is expected to last until the end of Tuesday while repairs are carried out. A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "We're sorry to customers who are experiencing disruption as a result of a landslip between Three Bridges and Gatwick Airport."
They said that engineers have been on site since Monday afternoon monitoring the track for movement.
The spokesperson added: "We will need to fully repair the landslip that is underneath the track.
"We're working urgently on a plan for that ensures that as many trains as possible can pass through the area, although there will continue to be delays, cancellations and changes to train services until further notice."
Passengers are being advised to check before they travel with their rail operator for the latest information.
