Woman stabbed to death in own car

Officers were called to reports of a serious assault on Moat Way in Barwell, Leicestershire at about 0900 BST. The 37-year-old victim was taken to hospital. The area around Moat Way was cordoned off as investigations were carried out. Police said the woman was attacked in her car shortly after she had arrived at her workplace. She died later at Leicester Royal Infirmary. A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "Officers discovered that a 37-year-old woman had been seriously injured. "She was treated at the scene by paramedics but died a short time later." Det Ch Insp Mark Harrison said: "Our investigation is in its very early stages and we are currently trying to establish exactly what has happened. "It appears that the victim was attacked in her car just shortly after she had arrived at her workplace. "We are speaking with people who were in the area at the time to piece together the circumstances that led to the incident and would urge anyone who has information or recalls seeing anything suspicious to please contact the police immediately." |
