A man has been arrested after a "serious incident" in north Dublin, Irish police have said. A man has been arrested after a "serious incident" in Stoneybatter in north Dublin, Irish police have said.
Several people are believed to have been stabbed during the incident, the PA news agency reported. Three males were injured during the incident on Sunday afternoon.
The man was arrested in the Stoneybatter area of the city on Sunday and is currently being detained at a police station. Two are described as having serious but not life-threatening injuries, while the third person suffered a less serious injury.
Police remain at the scene but said there is no "ongoing risk to the public at this time". Irish state broadcaster RTE News is reporting that those injured suffered "slashing type injuries".
They said further updates will be provided when available. 'State of shock'
The man who was arrested is currently being detained at a police station.
Sinn Féin president and local TD (member of parliament) Mary Lou McDonald said in a post on X: "My thoughts are with those injured and their families. The community is in a state of shock.
"The Gardaí [Irish police] and emergency services are to be commended for their response."
Police said they are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of what happened and said a number of scenes are currently being preserved for technical examination in the Stoneybatter area.
They have also appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
