Version 0 of 1.

A mother gave birth while her partner was driving at high speed on the motorway.

When Jenny O'Halloran from South Yorkshire went into labour in North Lincolnshire the couple set off on a dash to the hospital in Doncaster.

But baby William had other ideas and Miss O'Halloran gave birth on the M180 while partner Jamie Ostle was driving on 5 November.

He said: "When Jenny said catch him, I just put my hand out and caught him."

When their son was born, the couple wrapped him in a blanket and waited on the hard shoulder for the paramedics to arrive.

Popped out

Mother and baby were then taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Mr Ostle said: "It's one of those amazing things in life that brings you so much closer as a couple and so close to baby Billy.

"He popped out and looked more shocked than we did to be honest, he wasn't crying, he was just looking around as if to say 'where am I, what's happened'."

He added: "To say he was born at such speed and hectic pace, he's really laid back and placid.

Miss O'Halloran said her partner coped "amazingly well".

"I couldn't have done it without him, even though I didn't actually believe I was having a baby at first."
