DETAILS TO FOLLOW According to media reports, citing eyewitnesses, the suspect shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the rampage.
Unverified imagery circulating online purports to show the man confronted by an armed policewoman. He appears to be smiling in the aftermath of the attack while raising the index finger of his right hand. The gesture, which refers to the Muslim affirmation of faith, has been widely used by Islamic radicals, including Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) terrorists.
The attack comes just two days after a car-ramming attack against a trade union demonstration in Munich in neighboring Germany.
