Part of the M11 in Essex has been reopened following a three-vehicle crash. A woman in her 60s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a three-vehicle motorway crash.
National Highways said the southbound carriageway was closed at about 07:20 GMT between junction 7A for Harlow and junction seven for Chelmsford and reopened at about 09:10. She remains in a life-threatening condition and two other people have received hospital treatment following the crash on the M11, near Harlow.
All emergency services attended, including officers to provide assistance with traffic management, it added. Essex Police said it was called to the southbound carriageway before junction seven at about 06:45 GMT.
Some delays remained in the area and drivers were thanked for their patience. A man in his 50s, from Coventry, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and remains in custody for questioning.
Emergency services, including the fire and ambulance services, attended and a section of the road was closed.
National Highways said on X that it reopened at about 09:10.
The force is appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
