Ukrainian officials have insisted that it was impossible to hold new elections while the conflict with Russia is ongoing.
Zelensky’s approval rating skyrocketed to 90% during the first months of the conflict in 2022, but has since sunk to around 50%, in the wake of the losses on the battlefield and problems with the economy.
