Masked hijackers ram car off road

A car has been forced off the road in an attempted hijacking near Ballyclare in County Antrim.

A vehicle containing four masked men rammed the Citroen Berlingo on Ballynure Road on Tuesday evening.

They forced the 23-year-old driver to stop and assaulted him before leaving the scene.

A passing police patrol discovered the badly-shaken man sitting in his car at about 1925 GMT. He was treated in hospital for bruising and a cut hand.

A police spokeswoman said investigations were at a very early stage and appealed for witnesses to contact detectives.
