Vicar forgives daughter's killers

The father of a girl who jumped to her death from a window because she was being bullied, said he forgives the teenagers who killed her.

Kemi Ajose, 19, and Hatice Can, 15, have been found guilty of the manslaughter of Rosimeiri Boxall, 19.

But Miss Boxall's father Simon, a vicar, said of her killers: "We want them to know that we forgive them.

He said he hoped "forgiveness will allow the girls to be released from the burden of what they have done".

Miss Boxall died after falling from the third-floor window of Ajose's flat in Blackheath, south-east London, in May 2008.

The court heard Can had been bullying Miss Boxall and attacked her after drinking a bottle of vodka.

Miss Boxall who was desperate to avoid further violence, jumped three storeys.

As she lay dying, Can told her: "Serves you right."

But Mr Boxall, who adopted Miss Boxall from Brazil, said: "We continue to pray for those who are responsible for Rosi's death.

"That does not mean that what they did 'doesn't matter'. Of course it does.

"Nor does it mean that we think this trial need not have taken place."

He added: "For justice to be seen to be done those responsible have to face up to the consequences of their choices."

The judge lifted an order banning identification of the younger defendant Can, of Belvedere, south-east London.

Following the verdict, Ajose was remanded to the psychiatric hospital where she was being held. Can was remanded into the care of her local authority.

The teenagers are due to be sentenced on 15 December.
