A police van carrying several officers from Essex has crashed on a motorway slip road in Kent. A police van carrying several officers from Essex crashed on a motorway slip road in Kent.
The crash happened as the van joined the M25 from the M20 at junction one. The vehicle left the road and rolled on to the verge. The officers were on their way back from a training session when the vehicle crashed as it joined the northbound M25 from the M20.
The motorway and slip road were closed and traffic has been diverted to the Swanley interchange. Five police officers were taken to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries while others were treated by paramedics at the scene.
A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed that no-one was seriously injured in the crash. A stretch of the M20 was closed while emergency crews worked at the scene
Drivers were advised to avoid the area as the slip road was expected to remain closed for some time.
A spokesman for Essex Police said it was not known how many officers in total were in the marked police van when it crashed at about 1400 GMT.
No other vehicles were thought to be involved.
