Letter: Jane Reed obituary | Letter: Jane Reed obituary |
(about 7 hours later) | |
In 1966, when my first child was five months old, Jane Reed asked me to work with her on the Woman’s Own add-on supplements, which I did as a freelance, on the floor of her office in Tower House. By the time I was pregnant with my second daughter I was a sub in features. In 1982 Jane, then editing Woman, asked me to apply for a job as assistant editor, features, which I got. Just as I found when we worked together at Woman’s Own, I had to note down all her ideas – which she’d throw off into the air at any time – and then set in motion the ones I thought she’d remember. Mostly, I guessed right – fortunately. |
