She said that despite it being a close race between Labour and Reform, she is "really pleased" with the result. She added that transport, housing and linking up young people to job opportunities will be her first priorities.
"It gives us work to do, we have to find a way to speak to everybody but I'm really happy with the outcome," Ms Godwin said. "I also want to improve the way we are telling our story and showcasing ourself to the government, internationally and to other parts of the country, so that others can see the absolute potential we've got here."
She added that the result was "always going to be close, we knew that".
