Pay respects
In a statement, Melanie's parents Steve and Pat Hall issued an open invitation to the people of Bath to join them.
"On Friday December 11th at 2.30pm we will be holding a funeral service in Bath Abbey to remember the life of Melanie and to lay her to rest.
We wish to extend our sincerest thanks to all those who have comforted us throughout the last 13 years Steve and Pat Hall
"We extend a warm welcome to all who would like to join us on this occasion."
The family had initially hoped to hold the service at the small village church in Batheaston where Miss Hall was christened.
But to make sure as many people as possible could pay their respects, they have decided to hold it at Bath Abbey which can seat more than 1,000 people.
'Volume of love'
At the service, Melanie's sister Dominque will share her memories of her younger sister.
The family said: "Since June 9th 1996 we have waited for news of our youngest daughter Melanie.
"During that time we have received unprecedented support from the people of Bath and those living in the surrounding towns and villages.
"When Melanie was eventually found on the outskirts of Bristol we were inundated with messages of sympathy and goodwill.
"We have been truly overwhelmed by the sheer volume of love and affection shown by so many people to us and our family during this difficult time.
"On behalf of ourselves, our eldest daughter Dominique and our mother Dorothy we wish to extend our sincerest thanks to all those who have comforted us throughout the last 13 years and the difficult weeks following the discovery of Melanie."
