http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/wales/north_west/8386654.stm Version 0 of 1. Firefighters say five members of a family are lucky to have escaped with their lives from their blazing home. A couple, both aged 59, their son, 31, daughter-in-law, 29, and a two-year-old girl were treated for smoke inhalation. The fire was found in the lounge of the bungalow at Rhydwyn near Holyhead on Anglesey at 0623 GMT on Monday. The cause of the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the property, is being investigated by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service. The fire service said the older woman woke to the smell of smoke and when her husband went to investigate he found the lounge of the bungalow was on fire. He then raised the alarm and helped to ensure the rest of his family made their way safely out of the building. Some members of the family escaped through a rear window. Alyn Edwards, the fire service county safety manager, said: "All five family members are lucky to be alive. "We can not over-emphasise the importance of getting out, staying out and dialling 999 when you are the victim of a fire - and having a well-planned escape route is crucial," he added. |
