Officials are unsure of the cause of an explosion at an apartment block in western Sydney that saw one person taken to hospital, saying “there is no fire”. | |
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) responded to reports just before 6.30am on Friday of an explosion at an apartment block in Lidcombe. | |
The explosion occurred in a unit on the second level of a three-story building. It blew out a brick wall and damaged a car and adjoining units, officials said. | |
Firefighters said they found one person “unconscious or semiconscious” who was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital. | |
“They tell me that they’ll be OK,” FRNSW superintendent Adam Dewberry said. | |
Dewberry said there were no other reported injuries, and all people inside the unit had been accounted for. However there was “significant damage” to the building. | |
