Cooper's spokesperson added: "The home secretary was incredibly moved to hear of the experiences of Gary and Jan Furlong, and the appalling murder of their son James, who was killed alongside David Wails and Joseph Ritchie-Bennett in the June 2020 Forbury Gardens terror attack.
"The families of the victims asked a range of important questions relating to the Prevention of Future Deaths Report that was issued following this heartbreaking attack, and the Home Office provided a response to the issues they raised this week," they added.
"The home secretary's deepest condolences are with the loved ones of James, David and Joseph following their tragic deaths. The government is overseeing the implementation of commitments made in response to the inquest, and we are determined to ensure that all the lessons learned from this terrible incident are acted on."
