West Yorkshire Police said they received a report of a concern for safety of a young child on 30 July at about 11:05 BST. The body of Hope McGrath was found inside a bungalow on Austhorpe Court in the Colton area of the city on Wednesday.
Officers went to a property on Austhorpe Court in Colton and the girl's body was found inside. Pippa McGrath, 47, of Austhorpe Court, appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court charged with murder between 26 and 30 July.
The force said Pippa McGrath, 47, of Austhorpe Court, Leeds, had been charged with murder and was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court later. During the brief hearing, Ms McGrath spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and address, and say she understood the charges before being remanded in custody to appear before the city's crown court on Tuesday.
West Yorkshire Police said officers discovered Hope's body after they were called to the quiet cul-de-sac following a report of a concern for safety.
