The two dog walkers rowed after their pets clashed after barking at each other, police say

A dog walker was kicked in the head after an argument with another man over their pets barking at each other, police have said.

A man in his 50s was punched and then kicked in the face in the "nasty, unprovoked assault" in Leasowe, Wirral, at about 19:00 BST on Friday.

Merseyside Police said the the second man "became irate" after separating the animals, attacking the other dog walker as he walked away from Links View Playing Fields.

Det Insp Phil Ryan appealed for anyone who saw the attack, or a man leaving the area, to come forward.
