Thus far, no official details on the exact number of deputies wounded, suspects and the status of the shooter situation have been released.  Local police held a press conference on the incident later in the day, confirming the shooting occurred when the deputies tried to serve the suspect, identified as James Andreu Lehnerd, with a protective order and warrants for brandishing a firearm and trespassing. The officers, however, were greeted with gunfire, receiving superficial shrapnel wounds, local Sheriff Mike Taylor has said.
Virginia State Police told WFXR News that a suspect has been taken into custody without providing any other information on the incident.  One of the injured deputies ended up hospitalized “out of an abundance of caution,” the sheriff said. “All three are well. Of course they’re shaken up. And they’re going through the process now of trying to heal,” he added.
The incident triggered a major emergency response from multiple law enforcement agencies. The initial shooting turned into an hours-long standoff, but the suspect eventually surrendered and was taken into custody without incident, according to the authorities. The suspect is expected to face “serious” charges, yet they are still being determined.
