A section of the M20 has been closed near Addington

A section of the M20 in Kent has been closed after a tractor fell from an overbridge during a crash, National Highways has said.

Part of the road was closed in both directions shortly before midday on Monday. At 12:40 BST, National Highways said the M20 was shut in both directions between junction three, near Addington, and junction one, near Swanley.

Traffic information supplier Inrix said a lorry had been involved in the crash, while Kent Fire & Rescue Service said the incident involved two vehicles and crews had extracted one person.

The road is expected to be closed for four to six hours, the fire service added.

An air ambulance was called to the incident

National Highways has urged drivers to allow extra time for their journey if travelling in the area.

Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
