A five-storey building has collapsed in the Turkish city of Istanbul, killing at least one person and injuring 16 others, the city's governor has said. Governor Muammer Guler said 27 people were living in the building and added up to five were currently known to have escaped the building unharmed. One seven-year-old girl was believed to be dead when pulled from the rubble, but she was found to be alive and is now in critical condition in hospital.
Mr Guler said that the authorities did not know how many people were inside when the incident occurred. Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler said a few more people might be still be buried in the debris.
