At least fifteen people were injured after Ukraine bombed a sanatorium in Crimea, regional Governor Sergey Aksenov said in a statement on social media on Sunday. He said a school building was also hit in the attack.
Aksenov confirmed there were fatalities, but said that “the death toll is still being determined.”
“Emergency services are working on scene, and people are receiving all necessary assistance,” he wrote, adding, “I am personally monitoring the situation. Please remain calm and trust only official information.”
In the peninsula’s largest city, Sevastopol, regional head Mikhail Razvozhaev reported that the Russian Black Sea fleet and air defenses are defending against a Ukrainian drone attack near the city.
“3 drones have been shot down so far,” he said on Telegram on Sunday.
