Two residents of a city building had to be taken to hospital after being rescued when a fire broke out. A man has been arrested and two others are in a critical condition in hospital after a caravan fire on Monday night.
Avon Fire and Rescue said it sent multiple crews to the property Bell Hill Road in the St George area of Bristol after the emergency services were called at about 22:30 BST on Monday. Crews from Bedminster, Kingswood, Hicks Gate, Temple and Bath extinguished the fire and two of the people inside the building were taken to Southmead Hospital by ambulance. Witnesses said they heard people screaming for help and two men had to be rescued from a property adjacent to the fire.
The fire service said the cause of the fire is not known yet and an investigation will take place on Tuesday. A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life on Tuesday morning. He remains in custody.

Witnesses said they heard residents of the flats screaming for help before they were rescued by firefighters. A number of nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution due to a suspected gas leak for a short period before being able to return home overnight.
Avon and Somerset Police said officers remain at the scene and they are working alongside the fire service to establish what happened.
