A hill walker has been rescued after falling more than 600ft from a ridge in Glencoe.

Other people, who saw the fall off the Aonach Eagach ridge, alerted the emergency services.

A Royal Navy helicopter from HMS Gannet in Ayrshire - which was on a training flight nearby - and Glencoe Mountain Rescue team members went to the scene.

Police said the man was conscious but had serious head injuries. He was flown to Belford Hospital, Fort William.

He had been walking alone on the ridge when the accident happened at about 1300 BST.
