Assault charge marines in court

Capt Jody Wheelhouse, from 45 Commando, based in Arbroath, Angus, and Sgt Mark Leader, of the Commando Training Centre in Devon, did not enter a plea. Both marines are alleged to have assaulted a 48-year-old man in Afghanistan in March 2009. They have been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm. The hearing took place at HMS Nelson in Portsmouth. Judge Advocate Michael Elsom adjourned the cases for a date, time and place to be fixed. |
