Rolls-Royce wins £1.2bn US order

The contract with United Airlines is to power a fleet of 25 Airbus A350 XWB - due to be delivered between 2016 and 2019. It is the firm's first large engine contract with United Airlines. Rolls-Royce has now had more than 1,000 orders for the Trent XWB engine from 33 customers. It will enter into service in 2013. Mark King, president of civil aerospace for Rolls-Royce, said: "This represents a significant endorsement of our Trent XWB technology and its operational advantage." |
