A man has been arrested following the stabbing of a police officer in Fife. A Fife man has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.

The officer, from the Glenrothes area, is expected to be discharged from the town's Victoria Hospital following treatment to his injuries. Brian Kelly, 24, from Kirkcaldy, made no plea at the town's sheriff court and was remanded in custody.
The 24-year-old arrested man, from Kirkcaldy, is due to appear before the town's Sheriff Court later. The officer, from Glenrothes, was discharged on Monday from the town's Victoria Hospital following treatment for his injuries.
The policeman was stabbed as the driver and passenger of the stopped van tried to escape. Mr Kelly, from the Overtain Mains area of the town, was also charged with assault, road traffic and drugs offences.
Police say they are still looking for a second man in connection with the incident, although they say he was not involved in the attack.
Superintendent Alan Small later stressed that such events were extremely rare in Fife, adding that he could not recall anything similar happening in the county in more than 25 years of service.
