Emergency services have returned to the scene of a fatal house fire in Essex to find a missing person. Fears a third person had died in a house fire in Essex have proved groundless.
A man, aged 80, and a woman, 70, were killed on Friday morning when a fire tore through the three-storey property in Mill Lane, Saffron Walden. A man, aged 80, and a woman, 70, were killed on Friday morning when a fire tore through a three-storey property in Mill Lane, Saffron Walden.
A relative, believed to have been staying in the house, is still missing. Emergency services were looking for a third person, a relative, who was believed to be staying with them.
A search of the scene on Friday was halted by a gas leak. A fire service spokesman said it was unlikely anyone in the house would have survived. Firefighters searched the property and found no more bodies. They said everyone had been accounted for.
Fire crews were called to the semi-detached house just after 0830 GMT. Police said the fire is not thought to be suspicious.
